||THE SECRET LAB: OUR STORY ||
Welcome! We are Isaac and Kevika - we met in 2013 in our first engineering class at the University of Illinois. We immediately bonded over our love for food, travel, sarcasm, quoting movies, and hilarious jokes.
While earning our Chemical Engineering degrees, we fell in love with the sciences behind brewing and baking. Our first (relatively unsuccessful) brew was for an engineering fair in 2016. But with a lot of research and new equipment, 2020 sparked our most exciting and delicious brews. Kevika has been baking for as long as she can remember - specializing in cakes and cookies from scratch, but always experimenting new recipes.
We moved to Denton in January 2018, when Isaac started his full time engineering career and Kevika started her Master of Education program at the University of North Texas. Isaac travels for work and loves to try new breweries wherever he goes. Kevika enjoys baking during her summers off from teaching high school math. We adore Denton, frequent Ten:One, Ravelin, Green Zatar, Armadillo Ale Works, and Eastside, and enjoy going for walks around the square.
In our free time, we found that we were constantly planning another brew or figuring out what to bake next while we ate cookies and drank beer. We thought if we enjoyed our baked goods this much, then you would too - so we kicked off our baking journey with our new cottage food business, The Secret Lab.
